Amarโs POV
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ โ
"I really like the night long rides. They feel peaceful. " She hissed, softly. Her breath is completely fine now. The little things she love the most are the things which I admire the most too.
I know Pratyusha likes rides and journeys. She is sitting in the passenger seat next to me while I was driving.
I still don't understand who wants her to be dead. Our team has killed the Nexalites already.
But Pratyusha... She was almost dead.
"What are you thinking about? " Her gaze shifted to me as she was done with the admiring the dark nature.
"Nothing, Praya. I was just thinking about the person who stabbed you. " The warmth in my voice faded the moment my tongue betrayed me, letting slip the truth I had desperately tried to keep hidden.
"Why are you even thinking about that guy? I stabbed him in his chest before he could finish his job... " A dry laugh escaped her mouth as she smirked.
".... He was a Nexalite I guess."
"No, he isn't. " I said firmly.
" How do you know? " She was really confused with the thing I said.
"The knife which he used to stab you had a mark. "
"WHAT MARK? " Her voice was firmer. Not because she was curious, but because she never leaves something behind if that's disturbing her.
I stopped the car and turned to her completely.
"It was a mark of a sword with the saying ' Still I rise'.."
Her brows furrowed with confusion.
โ 'Still I rise? '...
What does that even mean?โ
โI donโt know,โ I said.
And this timeโ
It wasnโt a lie.
โBut Iโll find out.โ
She stared at me... Determined. Almost dangerous.
"Our team is investigating... We will find out about him sooner. "
She held my hand gently and placed it on her left cheek.
"Thank you... For being there for me every single moment. " She let out a small smile on her lips, trying to hide her anger issues.
"But remember, I can't say the complete details about them before the entire investigation completes. So, don't ask me again. Got it? "
"But why? " Her brows knitted together, and she instantly palmed her face.
"I'm trying to protect you... I can't put your life at stake. Please"
"I don't need any protection. I can protect myself. "
"I said our men are investigating-"
"No matter what, Amar. I'm coming for them. " She interrupted me. Her voice was low and very determined.
I closed my eyes briefly, for exactly what I was afraid of. I know she is too stubborn for things like this, and I am not going to let her involve in this.
I want her to be safe.
We reported to the Commissioner Office and as usual Praya got taunted. It's quite common for her.

That evening, Amar couldn't rest.
His eyes were not letting him rest because of that incident.
He held the knife.
His eyes immediately went to the symbol of a sword with the saying 'Still I Rise' engraved on the knife.
His gaze darkened.
It was a familiar saying but not the sword symbol.
He saw it somewhere. But couldn't remember.
It felt dangerous. It felt his heart trembling because of the person who was being attacked.
Pratyusha - his only strength.
He can't lose her. Not like this.
Amar couldn't stop staring at the knife.
His brows furrowed.
"No matter what, I'm going to find you and protect my Pratyusha from you. " A promise made to himself.
Miles away,
A man in the shadows was brushing his fingers on the same knife with the same symbol and saying.
And smirked.
โStill I Rise.โ
A smirk appeared.
Cold.
Knowing.
โSheโs comingโฆโ he murmured.
โAnd this timeโฆโ
His eyes darkened.
โโฆIโll be ready.โ
